Oliver’s hive was incredibly small. His specific type of field fairy resided in groups built for survival. But they had to fly away from their territory for food or to mate with other fairies outside of their group. He landed on a flower, covered in pollen, tired from flying so far. [ @googleoliver ]

Markus was bathing in the sun, letting his wings soak in them. He was comfortable, enjoying being lazy. He often acted as a kind of bee for the flowers as well, since a lot of pollen got stuck to him whenever he crawled into the blossoms of flowers.
He looked up when he could feel some pollen land on him, curious what was on a higher flower. He could see the magic of another fairy.
“Hello”, he greeted with a smile.

Markus was surprised by Oliver’s action, but he didn’t mind at all. He smiled softly, leaning his head against Oliver’s.

He hummed in thought, playing with his sleeves. What to tell Oliver?
“Well, flower fairies usually live in groups. I just don’t because of how I’m treated. We live off of sunshine, and nectar from flowers. We take care of our flower fields, to make sure they can grow, and no weeds bother them. Or whatever else might!”, he began telling Oliver then, smiling as he did.

“We’re pretty common, and the smallest fairy kind. Weed fairies like to latch onto us, and many of us die in the winter, since we don’t tend to go to fairy rings a lot. I’m one of the lucky ones who haven’t frozen to death on my first winter.”.

“Doesn’t it get lonely, sometimes? Without a hive, or group, of your own? Since there’s so many of you, why don’t you start your own group?”, Oliver asked, tilting his head. Even if other flower fairies didn’t like Markus, it was possible that he could find more fairies.

Oliver had dealt with weed fairies before. He had recently recovered from his last encounter with a large swarm of them.

“It does get lonely, some times. I.. I’m not sure why I never did, really. I got used to being alone. And whenever it’s mating season, I find another flower field with fairies. It’s not really bad to get back here alone.”, he shrugged lightly, careful not to disturb Oliver resting on him.

“I’m just used to being alone. Maybe I’m afraid I’ll be treated differently by everyone.”, he mumbled. He didn’t have anyone he really cared about, he didn’t have a bond with anyone.

“I don’t know much about flower fairies, either.”, he admitted. He had never gone too far away from his hive before, since he was relatively young for a fairy of his kind.

Oliver smiled brightly at him, wondering if Markus would mind if he rested on him. “I could learn more about you, though, if I stayed for longer…”

“Well, you said you were going to stay a few more weeks, right? We can learn from each other!”, Markus chirped, not very bothered not knowing a lot about Oliver.

“I can tell you all about flower fairies! Whatever you want to know! And you can tell me about your kind.”, he hummed, smiling.

“Will you tell me when you go?”, Markus asked, looking to Oliver. He hoped he would, even if it would still be some time. He didn’t want to just be left alone without a word. It kind of scared him, that that could happen to him.

“…I’ll visit you just before, so I can say goodbye.”, he told him quietly, absentmindedly rubbing the back of his friend’s hand. His skin was so soft. “If I could, I’d ask to stay with you, but… I don’t think I can.”

“I would be happy if you could stay.”, Markus said, smiling softly. He liked how Oliver held his hand, it was something he really wasn’t used to.

“Though I don’t know much about field fairies, and your special kind.”, he hummed. He considered “bee fairies” almost their own kind. Maybe they were? He wasn’t sure.

Markus was surprised when Oliver took his hand, but he smiled. He didn’t mind at all, even if he usually had his sleeves covering his hands. He needed his coat to blend in with the green of the flowers after all!

“I’m going to miss you then.”, he hummed softly. A few weeks. He was pretty sure he’d become friends with Oliver in that time.

“Will you?”, Oliver tilted his head, still carefully holding onto his friend’s hand as if the flower fairy would break if he held onto him too tightly. Markus was a flower fairy after all and felt just as soft as a petal.

“Of course! You’re my only friend. And I don’t like other flower fairies a lot.”, Markus replied with a smile and nodded. Other flower fairies always treated him differently, because Markus was a special fairy. His wings didn’t look like a butterfly’s, and he had stronger magic than most. He hated being treated differently.

“Why do you have to go?”, Markus asked, curious. He didn’t know too much about different kinds of fairies, so he had no idea why Oliver had to change where he lived. He was incredible curious though, as was in his nature.

Oliver tugged at his gloves again, shifting to be more comfortable. “When my species has to find a mate, we go to a different hive to find a partner. We could mate with other fairies, but we usually don’t.”, he explained.

“Ah.”, Markus nodded. That sounded interesting! Very unlike his own kind. Though Markus lived alone, which wasn’t that great of an idea. As soon as he needed to mate again, he would have a problem.

“Well, until you leave, we can see each other!”, he chirped, seeing the positive.

Markus came back after some time, settling down on a flower next to where Oliver was.
“Thank you for helping!”, he chirped, happy. There wasn’t much to be done, Markus hadn’t had to do much either. But he was still glad Oliver had come here to help him out!

“You’re welcome! Is there anything else you would want me to do?”, he asked, hovering in the air above the flower that Markus was resting on. He was glad to be of some use to him. Markus seemed incredibly nice, too nice to be working on his own.

Oliver sat down next to him, humming softly. Even if Markus had no more work to be done, he enjoyed spending time with his new friend.

“Nothing really.”, Markus replied and shook his head lightly. He tended to just fly around the flowers and gather some nectar, and pollinate them while he was at it. It was just something that happened.

“I like your company. It’s nice not to be alone.”, he hummed then, smiling softly. He was very glad that he had someone else around for once.
