“We could!”, Elvin smiled, nodding. “I fully consent to be a lot more physically affectionate with you, if you’d like that too.”, he said and giggled softly. The only physical affections he knew of were hugs, cuddling and forehead kisses. All things he did enjoy! Because they were really nice.

“I wonder how love feels like. How deeply you can care for someone.”, he wondered. Maybe he could compare it with his forest? He did care about the forest more than anything after all.

Agnes giggles quietly. “I’d love to.” She nuzzles his shoulder a bit. “I think romantic love is said to take over your life, at first. It’s all you can think about. You’re sad when your significant other isn’t around, and when they are, you’re so much happier.”

She hums softly. “That’s about all I know, of the public stuff.” She sighs happily. “The public stuff is all we need.”

“Mh.”, Elvin hummed, happily nuzzling against her. He would be happy if he could make Agnes so happy with just having him around. That would be wonderful.

He happily kissed her forehead, giggling softly. “I want to make you as happy as can be.”, he hummed, smiling.

Markus was glad when Ray didn’t come to him again. He was still scared, and barely managed to get any rest, but at least he was alone and could feel as safe as he managed to in a strange alpha’s home.

He did dread the morning though, when Ray would just come back to him again. He hoped he could leave. He just wanted to go home.

Ray woke up in the morning as he made some breakfast. He brought a plate for the small omega and wished him a good morning before leaving him alone. He knew he had to be patient and that’s what he was gonna do. He only wanted the poor omega safe.

Markus mumbled a quiet greeting back, thanking him for the food. He hesitantly ate, rubbing his eyes. He still felt exhausted after crying so much, and barely getting any sleep.

When he was done, he carefully tried to find Ray and the kitchen. Being blind sucked. “E-ex-excuse me, a-al-alpha?..”, he called out eventually.

“The forest is my world. I can’t leave it, I can’t live without it. And as painful it is to have animals dying sometimes, or to see people come here sad, heartbroken, asking for some sort of help. I’ll always be happy again, because there is a lot of things to love and be happy about.”, Elvin replied, smiling. He could understand how she thought he might’ve just popped up like this. It wasn’t that unusual for tree spirits to come to in older trees either after all.

“I never felt romantic love before. I couldn’t tell you if I were happier if I did love someone.”, he shrugged lightly. “I know I’m happier having you here though.”.

Agnes listens to him with a small smile. “I’m glad that you have such a capacity to be happy. I couldn’t do that, I’m far too empathetic.” She hums softly.

“Well, do you think you ever came close to feeling that sort of love?” She wanted to know how experienced he was. Just curious.

“I don’t know. What is love? How does it feel like?”, Elvin replied, tilting his head as he looked at Agnes. He didn’t know, but he was curious. He would love to know what love felt like!

“I wouldn’t want to not be happy. I’d find something to outweigh the bad feelings with, surely.”, he hummed. But he didn’t know a lot about the outside world, and the bad things in it. It was better like that.

Markus couldn’t calm down for another hour. Then his crying stopped, as he couldn’t bring himself anymore to cry. Then exhaustion took him over, and he couldn’t keep himself awake anymore.

His sleep was troubled, nightmares plaguing his mind. He woke up a lot, gasping for breath, terrified of being somewhere he didn’t know.

Ray came to check on him from time to time. He was there to hug him if he needed it. It reallt broke his heart to see the small omega cry like that and be terrified of everything. He wanted to make sure that this omega would be comfortable with him.

@emptynarration

Markus was always terrified of Ray. He didn’t want to be touched, he didn’t want to be held, he was scared. Scared of alphas. Of Ray. He never fought back against him though, because he was taught not to.

He was happy when he was alone, and managed to get some rest. Being in some alpha’s home, and never left alone for too long, it terrified him.

Little Sapling

“A lot of people do! A lot of people don’t. And both is okay.”, Elvin hummed, smiling. As long as no one tried to hurt his forest, why would he mind if people thought he wasn’t real?

“Will you leave again?”, he asked then. He didn’t expect Nox to want to come here more often. He knew the world outside his forest was a lot more complicated, and humans didn’t have a lot of time -which he never understood.

“I think love is a wonderful thing.”, Elvin replied with a hum. “If Layla hadn’t taught me love like she did, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Now I love not only my tree, and the forest and its inhabitants, but I love the villages surrounding it. I love the nice people that are in awe of the beauty of everything. I love the sound of rain. I love being happy. I love having company, being able to talk with someone. I love being friends with you.”, he smiled, watching his feet in the water.

“We wouldn’t know each other if I didn’t let myself feel love, or anything else.”.

Agnes smiles as she listens to Elvin’s rather long explanation. She hums softly as she processes the information. “What kind of love did she teach you? Platonic?”

She was curious about this. “I’m glad you were taught to love. Otherwise, I would either be dead, or still unhappy in my old job.”

“I don’t know. We were both children after all.”, Elvin giggled. Back then when his tree had barely been half his size, and he was still new to the world. Unable to leave more than a few steps from his tree.

“I’m glad you decided to stay here. Emotions may be complicated, but they aren’t bad. Even when you feel terrible for a long time. Being able to be happy makes it worthwhile.”.

Markus got up and happily made his way to the study, to sit down at his typewriter. He made sure he had paper in it, before pulling out his phone again.
“Send me one please!”. He smiled brightly, happy. It didn’t matter to him if all they did was talk about food. He was just happy to communicate with another human being.

Bing smiled before giving Markus a recipe for cinnamon buns, along with a simple recipe for the glaze that would normally go over the buns. He was more than happy before, knowing that he was finally able to have someone to bake with…even if they weren’t in the same room baking.

Markus needed some time to copy it, having to let his phone read it to him multiple times. When he was done, he smiled, holding the papers. A recipe for cinnamon buns! With glaze!

“I can’t wait to try it!”, he smiled brightly. “Sorry I took so long. You can send another if you want.”.
