“I think love is a wonderful thing.”, Elvin replied with a hum. “If Layla hadn’t taught me love like she did, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Now I love not only my tree, and the forest and its inhabitants, but I love the villages surrounding it. I love the nice people that are in awe of the beauty of everything. I love the sound of rain. I love being happy. I love having company, being able to talk with someone. I love being friends with you.”, he smiled, watching his feet in the water.
“We wouldn’t know each other if I didn’t let myself feel love, or anything else.”.
“The world is a very big place, with a lot of people. It’s probably impossible to make everyone really happy.”, Elvin hummed, enjoying letting Agnes lean against him.
“Do you have a partner?”, he asked then, curious. He was pretty sure humans were somewhat alike to animals, though he wasn’t sure. A lot of what humans did and behaved was a big mystery to him.
“Oh, a partner?” Agnes blushes at the personal question. “No, but I did see a guy I liked…” She sighs. “What do you see as a partner, do you mean a mate?”
She smiles softly. “Humans don’t exactly do that. Sometimes we do change out partners, but it’s more akin to emotion rather than instinct. There is instinct to breed, but usually people look for life partners rather than just someone to get pregnant.”
Elvin hummed and nodded. “Well I know humans don’t mate just like animals. They have partners! And they can be anyone or anything, I believe.”. He knew animals didn’t care about gender when they are together, even if it’s necessary for offspring. So he believed humans were like that too!
“You call it love, right? Back then, my first friend had always been very in love with everything. It had been really nice.”, he giggled softly.

Markus got up and happily made his way to the study, to sit down at his typewriter. He made sure he had paper in it, before pulling out his phone again.
“Send me one please!”. He smiled brightly, happy. It didn’t matter to him if all they did was talk about food. He was just happy to communicate with another human being.
“It’s always nice.”, Elvin replied and giggled softly. “But I think it’d be too cold for you.”, he hummed. He had gotten a bit more used to know what was cold and what wasn’t. He didn’t have such feelings, so when it was winter and everything was full of snow, the lake frozen over thickly, he was fine walking around with bare feet, while Agnes wouldn’t dream of that.
“Pretty flowercrown.”, he commented, smiling as he saw the flowercrown Agnes had made herself. He didn’t mind it when some flowers were plucked, they made people happy after all.
“Alright. Thank you.” Agnes smiles softly, then feels the water. She recoils a bit and giggles. “Definitely too cold.” She pulls her hand out and sighs softly. “It’d be nice in summer, though.”
She stretches a bit, then traces random shapes in the sand. “How many babies were there today?” She was invested in the life in the forest. Not as much as Elvin was, but she definitely had her ways of helping every once in a while.
“Two bunny families had a big litter.”, Elvin replied with a smile, pulling out yet another flower from his hair. He offered it to Agnes with a smile.
“The birds are all very active searching for mates.”, he hummed. The forest was filled with life, and he was very happy about it.
He couldn’t get his messy hair any less messy than it was, though at least he managed to get the twigs and such out.

Agnes had been visiting Elvin every day for a few months, through a bit of fall, winter, and now spring. It was getting warmer, and it was nice outside. Animals were waking up from hibernation, there were babies, and everything was colourful.
On her walk to the lake that day, Agnes had picked a couple flowers, hoping that Elvin didn’t get offended. As she walked, she wove herself a small flower crown and put it on. When she walked out into the lake clearing, she looked up at the bright sky and grinned. “It’s beautiful out.”
Elvin had been very happy being visited so much. He didn’t let that stop him from helping whenever he was needed, even if he had to leave Agnes alone for a few minutes to do so. His forest was the most important to him, it was his life.
He had grown accustomed to Agnes’ presence, and knew by now whenever she entered the forest that it was her. He enjoyed her presence, and the forest welcomed her as well.
Elvin was sitting at the edge of the lake, his feet hanging inside. It had been a year now, and he was still as happy to see Agnes as ever. His branches were growing little leafs again, and little pink flowers. He was brushing his hair with his fingers, cleaning out twigs and flowers as he hummed.
Markus smiled lightly, letting his phone read the text out loud to him. Kail preferred texting because of that too, he always knew both sides of the conversation.
“I’m only allergic to seafood, so it shouldn’t bother the recipes!”, he replied. He was glad he got new things to try out, he did like baking and cooking -it was an omega’s job.
“Kail is allergic to apples though.”, he added. He couldn’t just make something Kail couldn’t eat.Bing read the message and got rid of recipes needing apples, not wanting to ruin the food because he told Markus to just take out apples.
[Okay, I have a few recipes, do you want me to send just the names or the full recipe?]
The alpha wasn’t sure if he should just send everything, since that would take a while, or if Markus had his own recipes he could read at home. He should have some, lots of people had recipe books at home, so it was very likely.
“If you send me the full recipe, we could both make it and compare how it came out.”, Markus replied. He was excited to do so! Because even if he could only talk about food and baked goods with Bing, he could talk with someone else for once.
“I can write them down too, if you send them one by one when I tell you I got it down.”, he added. He did have a braille typewriter!
