Cut it all down

The men talked among themselves for a moment, before deciding leaving would be the best idea. They weren’t going to go against someone -no matter how small- with such a dangerous weapon as his sword. So they let Elvin go -who dropped to the ground- and made their way out of the forest. They already had cut down a lot of trees, they could finish this another time.

Elvin curled up on the ground, gasping for breath. It hurt, he hurt, everything hurt.

Breathing a sigh of relieve, Tachigami relaxed his stance and sheathed his sword. He surveyed the damage with a disappointed expression as he made his way over to Elvin.

“They can’t give us a moment’s rest, can they?” He knelt down next to the deity. “I’m sorry I didn’t arrive sooner. Is there anything I can do?”

“Thanks for saving me.”, Elvin mumbled, looking up to the other. “I… I don’t think so..”. His tree had to heal on its own, as did he. Though he knew the pain wouldn’t leave, not with how many trees were already cut down. The pain would linger for years, he was sure of it.
