Ray was walking down the street as he whistled a soft tune. He finished his work for today and now he only wanted to relax. Maybe eat something ? He didn’t know yet but he was happy to have some time for himself – growlingbeasts neko Host

On the corner of the street was a cardboard box. “TAKE ME” was written with black marker onto it. Inside was a small neko, either rather young or just small for its age. His fur brown, with blond spots in it, and clothes already a little ragged.
He laid curled up, not wanting for anyone to pay attention to him, even though he’d die alone out here. He was afraid of people, and what they could do to him.

“Bed! Bed is the best to sleep in.”, Host insisted, letting go of Ray to let him stand up. He wanted him to go to bed and make sure he was getting the rest he needed and get healthy again.

“Come on, I’ll take care of you as much as I can.”.

Ray nooded softly with a smile. “Thank you Host I appreciate your help.” He said softly as he moved with him to his bedroom. He moved to get in his bed good thing he still was in his pijamas. The demon coughed more and more as he felt the world lightly spin around him

@emptynarration

Host followed Ray, holding onto his clothes lightly so he wouldn’t get lost. He hadn’t been in Ray’s bedroom before, except once when he had found it.
“Stay in bed.”, he said, more worried than commanding. He just wanted Ray to be okay, he took care of him after all!

“I can!”, Host replied, looking up to Ray. He’d just keep his distance. But he could be in the same room as Ray! And try and help him with whatever he could help him with.

“You should go to bed soon. You sound really sick.”, he said then, worried again.

Ray smiled happily and nooded. He kept on working in the kitchen room coughing from time to time. After several hours he felt his eyes become droopy and after a while he fell asleep with his head on the table snoring quietly. He couldn’t get a break all the time but he tried to manage his time the best he could

@emptynarration

Host wasn’t happy that Ray didn’t go to bed like he told him he would, but he kept him company anyways. He had climbed onto a chair and sat there, listening to Ray work, trying to track him with his gaze even if he couldn’t see.

He frowned, worriedly, when he noticed Ray had fallen asleep. He didn’t want to wake him, but he shouldn’t sleep on a chair. So he carefully got up and went up to Ray, tugging on his clothes.
“Ray, Ray. Wake up and go to bed, please..”.

Host kept hold of Ray’s shirt, looking worried and unhappy. “But you’re sick. You can’t do exhausting work sick.”, he tried again. He didn’t understand work too much, nor did he really know anything about the world, other than what he had lived through.

“You need to stay in bed. Or wrapped in blankets. Stay warm. And… and… you need to feel good. Being sick is bad.”, Host didn’t want Ray to be sick. He wanted him to be okay! Because Ray was pretty nice.

Ray was rather suprised to know that the neko cared for him. The demon thought for a moment. “I will try to convince and I’ll stay at home in bed. Can’t really do that much when I am sick.”he said softly

“Oh I forgot to ask you but do you have a name ? My name is Raymon but most people call me Ray.”he said softly with a little smile.It was really great that the neko started to feel comfortable with him around

@emptynarration

“I’m Host.”, Host replied with a little smile. It was his name, and he would never forget that! Because it was his, and no one could take it from him no matter how hard they might try to.

“I could keep you company?”, he suggested softly then. “I.. I don’t know what to do when someone is sick. Master just… liked to use me for his pleasure anyways…”, he mumbled, grip on Ray’s shirt loosening. Ray didn’t seem like he would do that though. He had done nothing of the sort with him for now after all!

Host appreciated the time alone. He didn’t touch his food a lot in the first two days, before he trusted he was allowed to eat it. The same matter with the clothes.

He used the time alone to explore the house, slow and careful. He didn’t enter the bedroom after he found it, and kept away from the door he heard Ray work behind. He found some hiding spots, in which he napped, but sleeping he did under his box. After a few days he felt more comfortable walking around and being able to be seen, eating his food laid out for him, changing his clothes that were laid down.

He trusted he wasn’t going to be hurt here, and that Ray wasn’t going to hurt him either.

On one morning Ray woke up feeling rather unwell. He moved to the kitchen and made some breakfast. He placed the food near the small box wishing the small neko a good morning before moving back into the kitchen. His face was pale and he seemed a bit shaky.

The demon made himself some tea and some food before he started to read the daily newspaper. He was coughing softly and sometimes sneezed as he seemed to be more tired.

@emptynarration

Host’s habit of waking up early didn’t fade. He was awake when Ray got up, and listened to him make breakfast. He was sitting in his box, ears attentive as he listened to Ray. He looked towards him at his quiet good morning wish, already able to tell something was wrong.

Host climbed out of his box and ate his food, before walking to the kitchen. He felt mostly confident walking around on his own by now. He could hear that Ray was sick, which worried him. So he quietly walked up to him, before hesitantly tugging on his shirt.

“You’re sick.”, he said softly, though clearly worried.

Host was crying, quiet tears rolling down his cheeks. He resigned to his fate, that Ray wouldn’t let him go. He just wanted to feel safe, and being close to Ray, especially being held with no way out, was the exact opposite of what he wanted. He wished he were a cat, just claw and bite without getting too hurt in return. Instead he was a small neko, with human emotions and features, and the appearance of a child.

He didn’t listen to what Ray was saying. He was scared of him, and of being caged like this, in his arms. He just waited for the worst to happen now.

Ray saw that and seemed to be more sad. He didn’t mean to make him cry. He withrew his arms letting the other move away from him. The demon settled him down on the ground before standing up and leaving him in the living room. He only wanted to care for the small one but that seemed to only worsen the things between them.

The demon moved to his work room again continuing his work. He didn’t want to give up hope but he felt like he had no other option. The neko just didn’t want to accept him and trust him

@emptynarration

Host sat still on the ground where Ray had set him down, listening to him just walk away. And when he didn’t return soon, Host slowly crawled back to his box, turning it upside down and hiding in it, curling up with his blanket.

He wasn’t used to anyone nice. To not being hurt, or yelled at. He couldn’t just trust Ray because he seemed nice. Host needed time, and half a day wasn’t enough. He needed a lot more, so he could get used to Ray, to not being abused. Right now, Host would be happiest if Ray just ignored him. If he took care of him in subtle ways, like providing food, but not touching him, or speaking to him.
