Markus was soon pretty comfortable just reading aloud to Agnes. It was nice, and he enjoyed reading anyways. His voice did start to hurt a little after an hour or two of reading, though that didn’t seem to bother him much.
Agnes was leaning on the chair. She laid her head next to his lap and listened with a smile. She loved the way he told the story. She reacted across the spectrum at appropriate times, and giggled softly every once in a while. She loved this time with him.
Markus didn’t want to stop. For once, mostly just because he liked how Agnes paid attention to him, how she enjoyed listening to him. It made him really happy that something he was doing was good and enjoyable. So he continued reading even once his voice started hurting.
