Fantasy AU ~ Open starter ~ Fairy! Host
Fairies, pixies, even gnomes were loved by humans for their size, to keep them as pets. Uncaring that they were living, thinking beings, who wanted to live their own life, outside, where they belonged. And not trapped inside a cage.
The only positive thing was, that no magical creature could be born into captivity. But humans loved capturing their “pets” as young as possible, giving them no way to learn how to live on their own, in the outside world.
Host was a flower fairy. He always had been told as child to stay away from humans as far as possible, and like all children, was never allowed anywhere alone. It hadn’t helped though, as Host still had been captured and started to be sold off as a pet.
Once more he was sitting on a flower inside of something akin to an aquarium. It was recommended for fairies, especially flower fairies, to be kept in one. So they could be placed somewhere a lot of sunshine came in, they could have flowers inside, and a little bit of room to fly. It usually was far too little room though.
Host had beautiful and huge golden wings, his eyes and a streak in his hair matching in color. He was blind, though not completely. He couldn’t see like a human could, but could see magic, the magic in everything living, in anything enchanted. Every bit of magic was visible in his eyes.
He noticed someone entering the store he was kept in, bored enough to watch them move around.
Markus kept watching her silently, not trusting her. All he knew about humans was bad. They were cruel and dangerous, and most would be likely to rip his wings out. He didn’t fancy dying and being in such pain.
When he saw her further away, sitting, he walked out of the cage, crawling into the blossom of the rose. He convinced himself it was a coincidence she picked a rose, she wouldn’t be able to know it was his birthflower.
“Are they nice? Are they dangerous?”, he asked the flower, hoping it was alive enough to answer. He hated how humans cut flowers and picked them, dooming them to die. He was just glad his voice was far too quiet to be heard by a human even if the humans was close to him.
The flower was in very good condition, so it could answer. “They’re kind,” The flower said back.
The woman being talked about was watching this curiously. She had never been taught about fae, or what they did. This was all a learning experience for her.
Markus trusted the rose, of course he would. They wouldn’t lie to him, even if roses tended to be narcissistic.
“I’m sorry you got cut. Thank you.”, he said softly to the flower, before crawling back out of it. He looked around again, flying to the vase to ask the rest of the flowers about the human. He looked around the room again, seeing if there were any other plants around.
