Colourful black

Since birth, you have a black marking on your body, where your soulmate will first touch you. It bursts into colour when you and your soulmate touch.

Markus didn’t know what could possibly happen to him. The black marking where his soulmate would first touch him was wrapped around his wrist, and he couldn’t tell if it was him getting pulled by it, or his wrist being held, or his arm moved, or anything. But he knew his soulmate would at least, hopefully, be able to notice they had touched when they did.

He stayed home a lot, blind and unable to work due to it. He liked going out though, to the park, sometimes.

Markus was surprised when someone talked to him so randomly. He hummed lightly, nodding.

“It’s nicely warm, and rather quiet today. It’s nice.”, he agreed. He had his eyes closed, knees drawn up to his chest. Just enjoying being here, listening to the birds.

Jasmine was a young woman in her mid twenties, she worked as a waitress in a local restaurant. For as long as she could remember she had a black spot on the palm of her hand. Perhaps she and her soulmate would hold hands upon their first meeting for some reason? She wasn’t sure. Today she decided to go to the park on her day off.

She walked around the park with her headphones on. She was oblivious to much around her.

Markus was settled on the ground near the lake, enjoying listening to nature. He knew he might meet his soulmate without touching them first. A lot of people could talk and be friends and have never touched after all. He didn’t mind it too much, that he may not find his soulmate any time soon. He was pretty fine on his own.

Markus was half running and half stumbling along the sidewalk, crying and sobbing some, hiccuping. His distressed scent got him a lot of looks, stares, and some tried to stop him, but he pushed them away and flinched away from every touch. He just wanted to get home, but he couldn’t find his way, lost and confused. He yelped when he ran into someone, falling to the ground. He couldn’t stop sobbing out loud finally.

The young Omega didn’t expect to be knocked to the ground but when she saw it was another distressed Omega she gasped and went to his side, “Dear sir! Are you alright?” She asked him as she tried to calm him down the best she could.

Markus nodded lightly. More or less a normal worktime then, which was good. He wouldn’t know how to handle her being gone for the entire day.

“When do you work?..”, he asked softly then. He would guess rather in the evening, if it’s in a bar. But he couldn’t know, so he asked.

“Normally from 12 in the afternoon as we do serve food there to sometimes 11 at night.” She hated the long hours sometimes but she couldn’t really complain, she always got good tips and her checks were decent to keep food on the table and a roof over her head.

Markus nodded lightly. So the better half of the day he’d be alone. He didn’t mind too much, he got up early enough after all. And he could look after himself for the evening.

“Okay.”, he said softly. He was glad he didn’t have to work, or they wouldn’t see each other at all, most likely. It was nicer to be able to see her at least in the morning.
