“Soulmates don’t have to be a perfect match.”, Markus mumbled, but stayed in Daniel’s arms, clinging to him, feeling safe. He knew soulmates could just be friends, though good ones. They didn’t have to be romantic. But Markus would be more than happy to try and be with Daniel.

“But-… but thank you..”.

“But I can already sense that that bond between us is stronger than just friendship Markus.” He said softly and cupped his cheeks then. “I would never kiss a stranger, and yet I did kiss you.” He mumbled before he connected their lips again.

Markus blushed a little as he was kissed again, relaxing as he kissed back. It calmed him, soothed him, and it felt really nice.

“I feel a lot better with you… thank you so much..”, Markus mumbled softly, not wanting to lean back far more than he had to to speak.

Arthur went ahead and grabbed a washcloth too while Agnes washed her own arm, rubbing Markus’ arm clean too. He didn’t see a point in keeping the old messages.

“Of course it would have, but it still would seem obvious. Why would it censor it if I hadn’t written any?”, Arthur wrote then, huffing. “I’m actually pretty popular. My books got translated quite a lot. At least a few of them.”.

“Don’t brag.”, Markus huffed with a little smile and nudged Arthur, who grinned and rolled his eyes in return, nudging Markus back.

“Thank you..”, Markus mumbled quietly. He was really really glad Daniel would help him, and stay with him. That he wouldn’t be alone, and someone would make sure he’d heal.

“I’m sorry you had to hurt yourself… I’m really sorry…”, he murmured, gently taking Daniel’s arm, feeling the bandages. He felt terrible.

“Don’t worry about that. I did it to make sure you’d contact me” he said softly and rubbed his back some more. He looked at him and cupped his cheeks. “We will get through this together”

“I was really afraid.. that.. that you`d hate me… or were annoyed by me…”, Markus mumbled softly. He was still afraid something would happen that would make Daniel hate him.

“I don’t want to disappoint you… I just-…”, he sniffed, clinging tightly to Daniel’s chest.

“I’m sorry I tried to die… again..”, Markus mumbled softly, holding onto Daniel’s chest. He felt a lot better with Daniel here, if only because he was so nice to him, so gentle and calm and kind.

“I’m.. I’m sorry I had you covered in so many flowers….”, he buried his face into Daniel’s neck, holding tightly onto him. He was so used to being covered in bruises -on his wrists, arms, legs, sides, throat. To being hit, and yelled at, kicked and insulted. He couldn’t believe it’d be different with Daniel.

“No don’t be sorry. Bad things happen, but now everything will get better okay?” He whipsered and smiled softly when he nuzzled his neck. He wrapped his arms around him protectively and placed a soft kiss on his hair.

“I’m gonna take care of you” he whispered lovingly and placed another kiss on his hair. “Do you want me to stay here over night?”

“Yes please.”, Markus replied quietly. Even if Daniel was a stranger, and could technically be the worst person he ever met, he trusted him. Daniel was his soulmate, and he was nice to him right now as well.

And he just really didn’t want to be alone. Not when he just tried to kill himself first thing in the morning. He needed someone here, to look after him, and take care of him.

“I’m sorry… I’ll probably be a burden to you..”, he mumbled softly. When he had a depressive episode like this, he needed a lot of care.

Markus didn’t know she was adding to what he was drawing. It were mostly lines, tried patterns, nothing real. Just to fill space.

It took a few minutes until Arthur read out what Agnes had written.
“Do you think I can write no? You said telling her you are blind didn’t work.”, Arthur wondered. He could try at the very least.
“No.”, he wrote in reply, watching as what he wrote was scribbled out.
“Damn.”.

“Guess telling you if he can see or not is too much of help of finding him.”, he wrote instead.

Agnes sighed quietly. “How is knowing if one can see a tool to help find someone?” She grumbled to herself. She sighed softly, then thought on a question for a bit.

“Do you have any published books?” She was curious as to.the answer, and whether if she could get the title of one.

Arthur thought this soulmate thing was far too strict. Sure there weren’t extremely many blind people around -or at least he didn’t know many- but was it really so helpful?

“If my answer were to be censored, wouldn’t that be a giveaway to the actual answer?”, he wrote in reply. If he wrote yes and it got censored, wouldn’t it be obvious he had published books?
“As long as I don’t tell you under what name or some titles of books I’ve written, it’ll probably be fine though.”, he wrote too. He was slowly running out of room on Markus’ arm.

Markus was quiet, sniffing, the last of his tears running down his cheeks.
“I- I… I’m blind..”, he mumbled quietly. He needed to tell him, he was here, and he was looking at him, and Markus couldn’t see anything. It was just dark -his room was dark too, curtains drawn.

“I’m sorry… I… you must hate me…”.

Daniel felt his heart stop at that, and he bit his lip softly. He studied his features and indeed he could see how dull his eyes looked. He gently brushed away his tears.

He never believed the saying that if you met your soulmate, you would instantly feel a connection and fall in love. He had always questioned it. But right now he couldn’t.

He felt a tugging on his heart and he knew this way how love should feel like. He had been with a few people but he had never felt like this before. And now he felt it because of a complete stranger.

“It’s not about seeing. It’s about feeling.” He murmured quietly and looked at him with soft eyes. He bit his lip and held his chin in his fingers softly before he slowly leaned in and pressed his warm and soft lift onto Markus.

The kiss was tender and loving, and Daniel felt his heart stop in his chest while they shared their first kiss.

Markus waited with baited breath for Daniel’s reaction. He expected a lot -yelling, hitting, worse– but there was nothing. Just gentle touches brushing away his tears. He stayed quiet, listening to Daniel, feeling his hand lay so gently on his chin.

He was surprised by the kiss, staying still for a moment, before he relaxed. Closing his eyes, slowly, carefully, kissing him back. It felt a lot different from any other time he had kissed someone. He really felt like he was finally meant to be with someone.
