Host didn’t get sick a lot. When he was, it was never fun for anyone, especially for the Host himself though. He laid feverish in bed, muttering broken chunks of narration. He didn’t even know when his mutterings affected reality and when they didn’t, not fully aware of anything as he was half asleep. Doc had said to rest, but Host was a little more than restless.

Anti had tagged along with Schneep for his visit with Dr. Iplier; sometimes the doctor needed help and he was rather bored. There was nothing for him to do this time, though, but before he could leave Dr. Iplier stopped him and requested that he check on one of his sick patients, Host. Anti had only ever heard of Host, never met him, but he agreed nonetheless.

So there he was, lightly knocking on the door to Host’s bedroom, fidgeting from foot to foot.

“The Host made an herbal blend with green tea.”, Host answered, pouring them both a cup of the tea. “He suggests to wait another minute or two, to let the tea settle and cool a little more, though it is alright if Anti wishes to take the cup now. With how long the Host took, the tea should already taste alright.”.

Host settled in his own chair then, comfortable as he mumbled quiet narrations to help him see.

Anti reached out and took the cup anyways- Host had said it was alright, and he was pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to wait for it to settle. He wanted to try it now.

He took a sip and hummed. It was definitely herbal, but he didn’t mind the taste nor how hot it was. Certainly, it was different than coffee.

“So, Host, what sort of things do ye do?” He asked after a moment, tilting his head to the side.

Host held his cup in his hands as well, though clearly intended to let it cool a little more. He just liked having his hands warm.

“The Host has a broadcast he does every evening. It’s on public radio, though because of the late time it plays, only certain people hear it. As well as the ones the Host wants to hear it.”, Host answered, twirling his cup in his hands slightly. “Host does enjoy reading as well, though. Taking walks in the late evening or early morning is also something the Host enjoys, though doesn’t do quite as often.”.

He’d be glad for some company, if he was honest, since he didn’t spend a lot of time with the other egos. The Host isn’t the fondest of most egos, or rather the other way around.”, he was narrating more than talking to Anti, something that happened most of the time. He was just used to do so.

“Okay,” Anti hummed, taking a seat. He didn’t mind Host talking the way he did- he thought it was more unique than annoying or odd.

He glanced around the library as he waited, absentmindedly bouncing his leg. There were a lot of books- which made sense, it was a library– and he wondered if they all belonged to Host, or if they were more communal, with all of Mark’s egos sharing them. He couldn’t imagine a lot of them reading, though.

Host was gone for a few minutes, humming softly as he worked. He came back to Anti with a little tray, carrying the teapot and two cups, some sugar and honey, teaspoons. He set it down on the little table Host’s book was resting on, motioning to a seat for Anti to sit down if he’d like.

“The Host is glad Anti decided to stay. The library is one of Host’s favorite places, as it’s one of the quietest. Anti is right in his assumption that not a lot of the egos read, so it is quite quiet here. But it is a communal space, since the Host doesn’t read a lot.”, his attention had shifted from books to broadcasting after all, so why would he own a library? Though he did have all of Author’s books, but not here.

“The Host greets Anti, glad to see him again. He appreciates the help Anti had been for him greatly, being sick is truly terrible. He feels a lot better now, though.”, Host said, smiling softly towards Anti. He was indeed glad.

Anti’s grin widened, eyes lighting up. “That’s good! ‘M glad ta have been of help.”

He stood for a moment, before remembering the second reason he had come, apart from to see how Host was doing. He pulled the bag from his pocket dimension and presented it to Host. “I bought ye some tea! I wasn’t sure what kind ye liked, so I got a few,” he said. “There’s some black tea, green tea, jasmine tea, chamomile tea… and a couple others.”

The Host seemed mildly surprised, but smiled, taking the bag from Anti. “The Host thanks Anti for the tea, assuring him any kind would have been a good present. He likes every tea, especially the loose leafs Anti brought him.”, he said and chuckled softly, setting the little bag to his book.

“The Host wonders if Anti would like to stay a while. Host could make some tea, then, if Anti liked.”.

Host nodded lightly, letting Anti leave without another word. He was glad to finally get cleaned up and changed, get some medicine and fresh cases for his pillows. Resting was a little easier then, getting exhausted from barely doing anything, and drowsy from the medicine. He wondered if Anti would visit him again.

He felt better after a week or so, finally. He still tried to rest more than he normally would, but he was up and about most of the time. Either in his room, or his broadcasting room. Sometimes just in the library reading some of the braille books.

Anti had been casually informed by Schneep that Host was feeling better, so he decided to give the other a visit. He didn’t know why, but he felt inclined just to make sure the blind man was truly okay. Being sick really sucked.

He had, after some contemplation and questions to Iplier, picked up some tea for Host. He always liked receiving gifts after not feeling feel, so he figured it would be the same for the Host.

Deciding not to just glitch into the library, he glitched to the building and wandered down the halls. Granted, he got a few odd looks from the other egos, but he didn’t mind them, instead focused on finding the library; once he did, he knocked on the door, hoping Host was inside.

“Host?” He called. “’S Anti again. Are ye in there?”

Anti was more or less lucky he found Host in the library. He had known Anti would come to the library in search for him, and since he had been there earlier in the day already, figured he could just stay there for now.

He smiled lightly when he heard Anti. “The Host is indeed inside the library. Anti will find he will find the blind man easily once inside.”, he said, half narrating so Anti really didn’t have to search for him in the big room.

He was glad Anti had been here and helped him a little, it was really nice. Being sick and alone was the worst.

“Okay. Be right back.” Anti left his phone there again, just in case Host still wanted the music, and glitched away to Iplier’s office. Or clinic. Whatever he called it.

He found the two doctors chatting and interupted, giving Iplier the run down of what had happened, and that Host would like to see him now. Once he got confirmation, he glitched back to Host’s room and plopped himself on to the bed.

“Iplier’s on his way. I’ll stay ‘till he gets here,” he informed him.

Host appreciated the music still. It was nice, and kept his thoughts sorted. More or less. He fiddled with his blankets, mumbling softly, hoping he would be better again soon. He didn’t like being sick, at all.

Host nodded lightly when Anti was back again, grateful for the help. He still didn’t really feel like talking a lot, though he was sure Anti didn’t mind.
