Host was out of bandages. He didn’t like it, but somehow he had forgotten to get new ones from the doctor for his coat, so now he didn’t have any more. His bandages were soaked and disgusting, so he had cleaned his face. Forgetting he had no new bandages. He didn’t have anything else to hide his eyes with though, and the little amount of stress caused new bloody tears. He sighed, washing them off before leaving his room. He’d just hurry and hope no one saw.

Edward was actually leaving his office, off to grab some food no doubt and possibly have a break. However he paused when he saw Host coming quickly down the hallway. The main bit catching his attention was the lack of bandages covering what were once eyes. It was very rare to see the bandages missing, which lead him to feeling concerned.

“Host? Are you alright?” He made sure to announce himself, save the other bumping into him or jumping.

Though Host’s face was far harder to read, his body language was still concerning as he helped. Exiting Host’s personal space as soon as he was finished. Still looking worried for the other.

“Good.. Is there anything else I can do for you? You haven’t come by in awhile, which I would hope is indicative that you are doing well.” Not that Edward panicked he didn’t mind Host’s company even if it was work and check ups. But if Host didn’t require him that was equally good.

He adjusted his glasses, watching Host for any more signs of stress as he moved to grab the container of bandages. Ready to pass them over and let Host be.

“The Host manages. Overlapping realities are always a pain, though more so when the Host is able to see. He is, truth to be told, afraid one of the more gruesome realities will become the one he resides in. Or even worse, that his mind will get stuck in one of them, while his body is safely here.”, Host said, half narrating more than talking to Edward. He couldn’t help himself though, as he continued to narrate what the doctor was doing.

“The Host apologizes for how he must have acted before, if the stress was visible enough to caution the doctor. He is okay now, though. He’d like to spend more time with the other, if Edward would like to.”, the Host did get rather lonely at times, and it’d be nice to be around Edward especially after that vision.

“Thank you.” He said before he lifted the wet cloth to Host’s face. He was delicate, but efficient. Wiping away the blog from Host’s cheeks and around his eyes. When that was gone he threw that into his desk bin and unravelled the bandage roll.

The mumbles were fine to him, if anything he found it most interesting. That Host got to experience what others didn’t. Granted that came with plenty of cons and Edward didn’t fully understand or know what Host had to suffer with, but still he found it more of an addition to personality over a subtraction.

In a few minutes he’d carefully spun the bandages around Host’s eyes. Tucking the end in beside his ear. “It’s not too tight is it?”

Some time while Edward cleaned his face, Host held onto his sleeves, gripping them tightly, mumbles stuttering slightly. He couldn’t help the gruesome reality he most commonly saw to take over the reality he was in, showing him not the kind doctor who was just cleaning him, but something far worse. Far more bloody.

When Edward was done cleaning him, Host couldn’t help but take a few steps back. His mind wasn’t in the right reality, and he was aware of it, and he didn’t want the other to worry about him when he wouldn’t even be able to hear him. If his eyes could portray anything still, there’d be fear in them without question.

He was quiet as Edward wrapped him up, and almost didn’t hear his question once he was done. He relaxed again, engulfed in darkness, feeling safer. Back in this reality. “The Host assures Edward it’s fine.”.

Edward didn’t mind Host at all. Sure he had some medical complications, but he didn’t find that any reason to not understand or befriend the other. Nor did he mind that Host kept his distance.

“I don’t mind at all if you don’t. Could you lift your head a little for me though please?” He requested as he grabbed one of the aforementioned wipes and came over to the Host.

Host hummed lightly in acknowledgement, finally looking at Edward. With not narrating, it was harder to keep focused on this reality, especially when he didn’t have his eyes bandaged.

So he quietly narrated to himself, watching Edward otherwise silently, knowing he was here, and he was safe here as well. Even though his vision flickered to other realities, showed him horrors he didn’t want to be real. Or at least, not be real for where his body resided.

Host still flinched when he heard Edward, feeling drops of blood run down his cheeks. He could keep his eyes closed, he knew, but he also felt safer seeing where he was going, when he already didn’t wear bandages.

“The Host forgot he had no more spare bandages.”, he explained, fiddling with his sleeves. Eyes as black as obsidian focused on the ground. Or at least it was to be assumed, since it was impossible to tell with his eyes purely black.

“He would like to ask Edward if he has any for him left. The Host doesn’t like how he is at the moment.”. He didn’t like seeing. Not inside a building, not near people. Not near so many many realities.

The doctor smiled sympathetically, nodding as Host spoke. “Of course, come, I’ve got plenty in my office, you can take as many rolls as you’d like.”

He turned on his heel, heading back towards his office, which upon reaching, he held the door open for Host before shutting it.

Moving quickly to his cabinet. “I assume you don’t need my assistance wrapping yourself? I have wet wipes here too to clean away the blood on your cheeks, non alcoholic so they won’t hurt.” He mentioned, pulling out a container full of rolled up fresh soft cloth.

Host followed Edward, sighing softly in relief. He was glad that the doctor was so understanding, and not bothered by him. He did keep a certain distance to the other, mostly because he liked his personal space.

“The Host wouldn’t mind assistance, if Edward isn’t bothered. The Host doesn’t like mirrors, and can’t exactly tell if he’s gotten the blood off or smeared it somewhere else.”, Host replied, keeping his eyes on the ground still. The ground showed the least amount of changes no matter the reality.
