Author curiously looked out the window as they drove, happy to be quiet and suck on his thumb. He liked having attention. He loved attention, and being alone when little always meant he was unhappy, because he didn’t get a lot of attention when he was alone. But now, it was nice.

David smiled, gently giving the other’s hand a squeeze. “That is a very nice name, Authy.” He led the other outside, to his car. It was a simple thing, an old Honda.
Author smiled softly, nodding. He liked his name as well. He let David help him into the car, and then finally succumbed to his wants and sucked on his thumb, waiting for the other.
“My name is David. What is yours?” He kept his voice soft, giving the other’s hand a gentle squeeze. He kept his grip light though, wanting to give the other enough wiggle room so if he wanted to let go he could.
“Authy.”, he mumbled quietly as answer. He could give him a real name too, but he didn’t feel like it. He liked Authy.
“David.”, he murmured to himself. He could remember that.
David smiled, then held out his hand. “Would you like to hold my hand, little one?” He cooed softly.
“Mhhm.”, Author mumbled and nodded. He took the other’s hand, and resisted the urge to suck on his thumb. Later. When he wasn’t outside.
“Wha’s your name?”, he asked quietly then.
“That will be $16.56.” She rang up the register as he paid, humming softly. When the transaction was done she bagged the book, looking at him closely. “Have a good day.”
Author scrambled up to his feet, giving the book back because he didn’t remember where he had gotten it from. He walked up to David then, playing with his sleeves.
“Gonna go with you.”, he mumbled softly.
He followed behind the other, before stopping. He grabbed a copy of the book, walking to the other register. “I’d like to purchase this.”
The lady went to Author and talked to him, voice soft. She did notice Author behaved a little weird, but decided not to comment on it. He had been very tired when he came in after all.
Author nodded lightly listening to the lady. She said the man talking to him was okay, so he believed her. He still didn’t really want to go with him, but what else would he do?
He smiled, looking back over at the little. “What is his name, ma’am? I’m afraid he hasn’t told me…” /hi!!
“Oh, I don’t think he told us.”, she hummed, coming forth from behind the register. She was aware that he was the Author, the man who had published a lot of famous books under said name. But, he didn’t want anyone knowing who he was.
Author was watching the two from behind his book.
He wrinkled his nose slightly. “He’s a little, ma’am. I’m afraid that he will get hurt. And not really, no, but I was hoping on taking him home until he is Big again.” David fidgeted with his hands a bit. “I’ll bring him back here when he’s big.”
The lady tilted her head, not really understanding what David meant. But, she could tell he didn’t seem to mean Author any harm, and she and the others knew how he looked like, if something were to happen.
“Well, alright. I’ll trust you.”, she said and sighed softly, but smiled lightly. “I’ll go tell him you’re alright, okay?”.
He stood up, smiling softly at the little. “I’ll be right back, baby. I promise.” He walked over to the lady at the register. “Ma’am, how well do you know him?” He gestured faintly to Author. “And would you possibly be able to convince him to trust me? I don’t want him getting hurt with him being alone…”
The lady looked up and smiled lightly as she looked over at Author. She had never seen him blushing before, though it was cute.
“He’s here quite a lot, so the whole staff knows him. He never seemed like someone who’d get hurt on his own though.”, she replied. “Do you know him?”
He bit back a small smile at the little mumble of, “Stranger Danger.” “You are very smart, little one.” He cooed. “Very smart. What if I got the people at the register to vouch for me? Would you trust them?” He had seen the other here before, as a big.
“Mh..”, Author thought about it for a moment. He trusted the staff here.
“Okai.”, he mumbled quietly and nodded, looking over the edge of the book. He didn’t want anyone knowing he was little, but..
