Little Sapling

Elvin took the bread from her, curious. “So you put things on bread to make it taste better?”, he asked, trying to understand humans a little more. He did curiously try it, though he wasn’t that big a fan of cheese.

“Eating seems like a weird concept to me.”, he hummed, giving her the bread back.

Markus kept his face pressed into his pillow once the call was ended, curled up tightly around it. He listened to the sounds Daniel made, before he heard him in his room.

He stayed quiet when Daniel pulled him close to himself, not wanting to let go of his pillow, or even sit up. He just wanted to lay curled up in bed, even if he wasn’t allowed to bleed to death.

“It’s gonna be okay, I promise. You’re not alone anymore. I’m here now and I’ll take care of you” he whispered soothingly and brushed through the others hair softly.

“My names Daniel by the way.” He whispered. He smiled warmly down at the other.

Markus shifted, slowly sitting up and instead clinging to Daniel, burrowing his face against his shoulder. He was shaking, trembling, blood smeared over his arms and staining the pillow and blankets deeply.

“I’m sorry..”, he whispered, almost choking on his words. “I- I’m- I’m Markus..”.

“Mh.”, Elvin nodded lightly. Things he had never heard about! He carefully tore off some bread and tried it on its own, humming softly. It was interesting, and he liked that!

“I like new things.”, he hummed with a smile. He was most curious about the fruits, taking a grape and trying it. He took the orange, curiously looking it over.
“Your supposed to do something with it first before eating, right?”, he asked. He didn’t know about peeling things, but the skin of the orange didn’t feel like you should eat it.

Elvin curiously looked at his own orange again, carefully pulling out a segment. Huh! This was really interesting. He curiously bit into it, making a face at the taste.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t really like it.”, he said, looking a bit apologetic over to Nox.

Nox giggled at the face he made and reached out to take the orange out of his hand. She saw the apologetic look and smiled softly at him.

“It’s alright, I’m not offended. It’s quite a strong taste, especially of you’re not used to it.” She said “there’s plenty here you can enjoy.”

“What else did you have? Cheese, right?”, Elvin curiously reached for what she had told him earlier was cheese. He wondered how that tasted like. So he curiously took a small piece of it to try, humming lightly.

“The bread is still the best for now.”, he said and chuckled softly.

“I.. I don’t want to, please…”, Markus mumbled. He could barely keep himself from crying, sobbing into his pillow. He just wanted to bleed out and be done with this all. He hated this, he hated himself.

“I don’t.. please.. just let me..”, he cried, clutching his pillow against himself. It did press against his wrists as he held it though. Maybe not quite as good as how Daniel would’ve liked, but better than nothing.

“I won’t let you die. Life will get better. I promise you that.” Daniels soft and soothing voice said from the other side of the phone. He tried his best to get to the others place quickly.

“I’m almost there Okay? Is the door unlocked so I can come in?” He asked as he then parked his car.

Markus decided not to continue arguing, even if his opinion hadn’t been changed.
“It’s locked.”, he mumbled. “There’s a key behind the birdhouse on the tree..”. He was still crying, his voice quiet and strained. He didn’t want to live, he didn’t want to be saved. Even though he knew his brother wouldn’t want him dead either.

Markus heard the voice of Daniel, his phone on speaker as he was at home.
“I’m sorry.”, he said quietly, though his phone laid close enough to him that it should be picked up.
“So, so sorry… Please don’t hate me…. I’ll be gone soon, okay?… No more flowers…”. He hoped his soulmate could forgive him at the very least.

Daniel gasped and immediately started to speak again. „No no no! Don’t do this please! Your life is worth living!“ he said and got up. „Please… i beg you. Im gonna be here and I’m gonna take care of you, you just need to let me help you“ Daniel said worriedly.

He hoped that his soulmate lived nearby, maybe in the same town as well. “Where.. where do you live? Is anyone close to you? I call the ambulance if you tell me where you are.” He suggested.

Markus winced at first, before he calmly listened to Daniel. Was he really that worried about him?… He sniffed, crying again. Of course he’d be crying again.
“I- I don’t.. I… please don’t call… anything please..”, his voice was strained through his tears. He knew if he got into a hospital again, they’d keep him because of this. He didn’t want that. He really didn’t.

He told Daniel his address anyways though. Hoping he wasn’t too far away. He really didn’t want to have an ambulance called on him.
“I’m alone… but please… don’t.. I don’t want to stay anywhere because of this..”:

Arthur watched scribbling appear instead of what Agnes had tried to write.
“Just scribbles.”, he replied. He guessed it was because technically Markus could have been able to somehow find out her name with that, even if he couldn’t read it.

“I can’t even tell you who I am, since you’d be able to find me and then him.”.

Markus felt terrible when he woke up. Still. Why couldn’t he just be better? He felt terrible, his soulmate must hate him now, if he didn’t already. He felt fresh tears in his eyes, and he reached for his phone, and one of the razors laying next to it as well.

He didn’t hesitate long before pressing the razor hard against his skin, to his wrists, to his veins. He had done this… probably twice before. Trying to kill himself. Both times he had called his brother though, because he couldn’t… he couldn’t. But it felt so pointless, like life hated him, and he couldn’t. He couldn’t stand it anymore, again, the third time he tried, and he knew he wouldn’t let himself bleed to death in bed.

A few minutes after he had cut his wrists open, he told his phone to call his soulmate. At least he could apologize, right?

Daniel was munching on his piece of toast when he suddenly saw a lot of flowers forming on his wrist. He started to panic and looked at his flower covered wrist.

“Please don’t do this to me! I… I tried to help! I really did!” He sobbed and stared at his arm. If he lost his soulmate now, he had nobody else. His parents had abandoned and disowned him after finding out he was gay, so the only one he had was him.

Markus listened to his phone ring. He wondered if his soulmate would be mad at him. Maybe he’d be happy he didn’t have to suffer under so many flowers anymore. Who wanted to be constantly covered in flowers after all? Markus was sure his soulmate hated him.

He listened to his phone ring, calling the number he had been given. He could at least say sorry. That he had been such a bother, and that he did it all wrong, and was a terrible being. He just wanted to say sorry at least.
