Markus looked up to Oliver when he felt his hands on his own. He hummed softly and nodded. “No one can understand another one’s life.”, he mumbled. They were so different too, Markus was aware. He was royalty, a king, and what was Oliver even? A citizen, a criminal maybe. Nothing Markus would ever even begin to grasp.

“People do bad things, thinking it’s for the best…”, he murmured quietly. It was pretty much the only thing he had been able to hear when he had been kidnapped and transported around. Someone wanted to rule his kingdom, because he was so inexperienced. Something Markus technically understood -he was inexperienced, and had no self-confidence as king- though knew the method of trying to get his kingdom a “better” leader was bad.

Markus still felt responsible. He nodded lightly, seeing that Oliver wasn’t going to give up, and he didn’t want to argue either.

“I’ll lay down..”, he mumbled softly. He would worry anyways, because that was just how it was. He worried about every little thing, because he was taught to be perfect, so he had to be. Being a burden was exactly what he wasn’t supposed to be.

He carefully walked off then, easily finding a place to lay down. He curled up tightly, trying to block out these harmful thoughts. It made his mind spiral down bad paths.

“…Markus, I’m sorry for sounding harsher than I probably should. I just want you to get better so that we can travel. Didn’t you say that you wanted to?”, he said in a softer tone, sitting down beside him. He couldn’t understand what had made Markus so upset, so he had assumed that it was something that he had done.

Oliver wasn’t willing to leave until he knew that Markus was alright. He wasn’t a child, Oliver knew that Markus wasn’t likely to instantly get worse as soon as he left his side, but he was still careful.

“I’d love to travel with you.”, Markus replied quietly. “I just… feel like a big burden for you… I was taught to be perfect, and not be a bother. Even in the castle… I felt like a burden to the doctors, when I was sick…”. At least he didn’t feel like he couldn’t eat Oliver the truth. He normally wouldn’t be so open about things, but Oliver was easy to talk to. Just because Oliver treated him like a person.

“You didn’t upset me. I just… don’t want to argue over something like that.”, he mumbled. He didn’t like arguing in general, but even less so if it was something that needed no arguing.
