Gone

Markus looked up to Oliver when he felt his hands on his own. He hummed softly and nodded. “No one can understand another one’s life.”, he mumbled. They were so different too, Markus was aware. He was royalty, a king, and what was Oliver even? A citizen, a criminal maybe. Nothing Markus would ever even begin to grasp.

“People do bad things, thinking it’s for the best…”, he murmured quietly. It was pretty much the only thing he had been able to hear when he had been kidnapped and transported around. Someone wanted to rule his kingdom, because he was so inexperienced. Something Markus technically understood -he was inexperienced, and had no self-confidence as king- though knew the method of trying to get his kingdom a “better” leader was bad.

He was… someone. Or no one, if that was preferred. That was all that he particularly wanted anyone to know. He was technically a wanted man, but he attempted to distance himself from everything since his younger brother had gone missing. Gone missing, run away, or was killed. He didn’t know. Oliver didn’t even have a last name, or at least one he remembered.

“…and sometimes people do good with the worst intentions.”, he completed, although it wasn’t a phrase that required completion. It was something he had heard before, perhaps with different words, but the concept was the same. “Do you want me to leave you to sleep now, or do they need me to take you to where I’m staying?”

Markus huffed softly, smiling lightly as Oliver completed the sentiment. He knew. He wished people weren’t so complicated, a lot of the time. Not that he could change people drastically to be as he’d like them to be. As he thought would be good.

“If you want to take me elsewhere.”, he replied quietly. He’d have to at one point or another anyways, and the cloth on his forehead was getting warm. He needed to drench it into cold water again -the doctors had told him what to do, since they weren’t sure if Oliver would be there again or not.
